FIRST-EVER GELATO FLAVOR, HAPPY GELATO, ACHIEVES GUINNESS WORLD RECORD
On April 4, 2009, 439 children linked arms while enjoying PreGel's signature line of Happy Gelato flavors to form "the world's longest chain of children licking gelato." The record was set in a town in Austria at Bellini's Gelato Shop in Marchtrenk marking gelato's (also known as Italian ice cream) historic first entry into the Guinness Book of World Records.
The excitement wasn't limited to just one record as the shop was also able to set the record for "Iciest Fireman's Ladder in the World." The Fire Brigade of High Austria assisted while Bellini's produced a line of gelato trays as long as the fireman's ladder, which corresponded to 3,000-3,500 scoops of 58 different gelato flavors. Both records have received an official approval from the Guinness Book of World Records.
The attendance at the event was tremendous as parents and children sporting Happy Gelato t-shirts and caps assisted in the records and attended demonstrations by the Fire Brigade. Both the Austrian Red Cross and Fire Brigade of High Austria will receive the profits from the day's activities from Walter Wolfsegger, owner of Bellini's Gelato Shop. The success of the event is one many will remember for years to come.
