WHYGELATO? BECAUSE THERE IS A TRENDY RAINBOW OF CHOICES
By Janae Morris
It’s spring again.… almost. Fortunately for many of us, spring brings forth warmer weather, sunshine, blossoming flowers and singing birds. Sure, there is pollen, bugs and allergies, but we’re going to focus on the more enticing aspects of the “warm” season. For instance, is anyone else thinking about all the colorful flavors of gelato that will be dominating local gelateria display cases everywhere? Well, if you weren’t, I invite you to join me in anticipation of all the vibrant colors of goodness that will soon be available for your ravenous consumption.
Now, I have a bit of a confession to make. During my research for this article, I came upon an idea to share with gelato makers and budding “dessertpreneurs,” inspired by New York Fashion Week and here it is. Being that designer fashion and gelato sculpting are both intricate forms of visual art, why not bring the trending colors of spring 2014 to display cases just as they have been showcased on the runway? Allow me to elaborate.
Pantone® Fashion Color Report Spring 2014 states that designers are taking a modern twist on the traditional for spring 2014 by pairing soft pastels with vivid brights to create a colorful equilibrium. Gelato and sorbetto lovers, (remember, sorbetto is dairy-free gelato, often in fruit flavors) how awesome would it be to see a gelato display case mimicking the trending colors of the season? Seen below is a nifty infographic that displays how this can be done.
Stay chic this spring with the latest accents of gelato or sorbetto. Impress your friends and family with a new frozen hue every week. At your local gelateria, it’s not hard to be cool, so mix and match your favorite flavors or accent with bold toppings. Go ahead, as fashion guru Tim Gunn would say,
“Make it work.”
