National Gelato Day isn’t an official holiday… yet. But who is going to stop us from celebrating this delicious treat as soon as possible?

Now, I know what you’re thinking. “Didn’t we already celebrate National Ice Cream Day on July 21?” We sure did! But as you know, gelato isn’t ice cream. They’re two distinctly different frozen treats that deserve to be celebrated in their own distinct ways. Which leads us to the first (unofficially- official) National Gelato Day on Sunday, August 25, 2019.

Fresh from the winner’s pulpit, Mike Guerriero of Gelati by Mike, winner of the Santa Barbara Gelato Festival 2018 and the newly crowned 2019 Gelato Festival Americas Champion is also determined to make gelato as big of a deal in America as ice cream. “Now that you can find some of the best gelato in the world right here in the United States, I think it’s time for America to celebrate something that is quickly becoming an important part of our culture,” says Guerriero. To celebrate this momentous occasion, Mike will be giving away free gelato at all three locations of Gelati by Mike (Randolph, Caldwell, and Montclair) on August 25 between the hours of 12 p.m. and 4 p.m.

That’s a lot of gelato!
